At the heart of William the Conqueror's New Forest on the banks of the Beaulieu River, where the former Abbey lands now enclose beautiful gardens and parkland, stands Palace House, once the Great Gatehouse of Beaulieu Abbey. The Family home of Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, the house contains splendid rooms full of fine portraits, pictures, furniture, family memorabilia and photographs. The mediaeval Abbey ruins are extensive, impressive and atmospheric. The surviving monastic buildings house an absorbing exhibition about its history and the life of worship lived there by the monks: the former refectory is now the pretty parish church. The Abbey ruins are also home to embroidered wall hangings designed and created by Belinda, Lady Montagu, depicting the story of the Abbey since its foundation. Also on the site is the world-renowned National Motor museum with its priceless collection of over 250 vehicles, including Bluebird and Golden Arrow, the landspeed record breakers. In addition the wheels ride experience wonderfully evokes the spirit and history of the motoring age. Beaulieu also offers a comprehensive range of facilities for conferences and corporate hospitality functions. In addition, Beaulieu has a 4x4 track and facilities which are suitable for teambuilding activities, company days out, exhibitions, outdoor events and product launches.
